PRINTHEAD REFURBISHMENT PROGRAM
When Kao Collins initiated its refurbishment program the spring of 2012, we were overly optimistic with respect to the time it would take before we would be able to refurbish printheads. We have made tremendous progress since, and the challenges we have had to overcome have been invaluable in supplementing our knowledge of the pitfalls associated with the refurbishment process. Along the way, we realized that there were opportunities to improve the printheads, fluid stations, and controllers. Our short-term goal is to provide customers with additional services and equipment to improve the reliability of Kodak Versamark printers and extend their useful lives. Our long-term goal is to offer customers solutions for every aspect of their Kodak Versamark printers, increasing competition and eliminating the need to rely solely on Kodak for certain Versamark items.
Kao Collins has a number of refurbished printheads running in production at customer sites. The number is relatively small right now, and Kao Collins can only refurbish a limited number of printheads in any given week. At this point, we are cautiously optimistic with respect to the products we have developed. Customers are welcome to visit the building we purchased and modified to support our printhead refurbishment program. It is scheduled to open early September.
