Inkjet Ink Chemist

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kao Collins Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kao Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. Kao is a global company that develops, manufactures and markets personal hygiene, laundry, food, cosmetic, and specialty chemical products. KCOL, part of a newly created Kao Advanced Printing Solutions, produces Water-based, Solvent-based, UV-, LED-, and Electron Beam-Curable inkjet Inks. All products are designed for Industrial and Commercial Printing.

Kao Collins currently has multiple openings for Inkjet Ink Chemists, formulating Aqueous-Based, Solvent-Based, and Energy-Curable inks; this dynamic position consists of challenging assignments for packaging, mailing, security, and other unique applications.

Candidates for this position should have a minimum B.S. in chemistry or equivalent science –related degree. Successful candidates must have experience in a laboratory environment and equipment including Viscometer, Surface Tensiometer, pH Meter, Conductivity Meter, Microscope, GC-MS, FTIR, and HPLC. One to three years ink or coatings experience is preferred. This candidate will possess a high analytical aptitude. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent written and oral communications skills are a must. Additional attributes include personability, strong work ethic, team player attitude, creativity, organization, attention to detail, honesty, and reliability.

Ink Manufacturer Production Supervisor

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kao Collins Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kao Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. KCOL, part of a newly created Kao Advanced Printing Solutions, produces Water-based, Solvent-based, UV-, LED-, and Electron Beam-Curable inkjet Inks. All products are designed for Industrial and Commercial Printing.

Kao Collins currently has an opening for an Inkjet Ink Production Supervisor; this is a dynamic position coordinating and supervising the daily activities and executing priorities for the production team to provide quality products safely and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities Include:

• Supervise and train an ink manufacturing productionteam
• Develop and maintain production schedules, measure progress, and, deploy continuous improvements by established standards of performance for production employees
• Develop a team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
• Supervise the daily activities and set priorities for the production team
• Provide an “on-floor” presence as a team leader and supervisor and assist in gaps to keep production flowing
• Recognize and solve problems affecting production including schedules, staff, quality, and equipment maintenance
• Conduct and develop a training schedule for employees
• Perform reviews and approval of completed batches
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments to solve operational issues
• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate ink supply to the Production Support Team.
• Be able to assist in gaps to keep production flow

• This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs., maneuvering 500 lb drums, operate forklift and manufacturing equipment occasionally
• Regular and predictable attendance at the work site
• Potential for off-shift and weekend work
• Must be computer literate and utilize ERP Software (PPRO)
• Responsible for continuous improvement according to the Kao Collins culture while maintaining adherence to “The Kao Way” standards at all times
• Follow all safety and regulatory compliance procedures
• Attend meetings, training classes, courses or seminars as required by production management

Candidates for this position should have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of supervisory/ management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a packaging and production line is a plus. Candidates should also have experience working with an MRP software and in a GMP (good manufacturing practice) environment. An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline preferred.
